THE FELLOWSHIP IS BUILT ON A SIMPLE BELIEF…
The most gifted quartets deserve more than early acclaim. They deserve the tools, relationships, and space to build artistically bold careers that last.
What is the Resonance String Quartet Fellowship?
The Resonance String Quartet Fellowship equips professional quartets with the artistic, practical, and personal foundations — and real-world connections — needed to build sustainable and creatively relevant careers. Through a structured program of mentorship, coaching, and community building, participants gain access to leading musicians, educators, and industry experts across performance, well-being, management, and outreach.
String quartets are exceptional. What they lack is support. Once the competition prizes are won and the early engagements are booked, there is little infrastructure designed to help ensembles navigate what comes next — the sustained, unglamorous work of building a career. Resonance exists to fill that gap.
Why does this exist?
The program is built around intensive residential retreats, each focusing on different dimensions of ensemble life. Between retreats, Fellows work in individual mentoring sessions with the founders and guest mentors. The structure is intentionally iterative — we listen as much as we teach, and we refine the program in real time, based on what the quartets themselves tell us they need.
What does the program actually look like?
We work with professional string quartets who have demonstrated artistic excellence and are ready to actively shape their long-term future.
Who do you work with?
The term “fellowship” reflects our dual commitment to professional development and collective growth. It creates a community of leading ensembles engaged in shared learning, collaboration, and mutual support. By fostering this network, the Fellowship builds lasting connections and establishes best practices that strengthen both individual quartets and the wider chamber music ecosystem. Our goal is to secure the future vitality of chamber music — on stage, in education, and within communities worldwide.
